X for Clippers: Posts That Catch the Conversation

X is the quickest platform you can clip for. A video that lands on something people are already talking about can spread in a few hours and be old news by the next morning. That sets X apart from the other feeds in two ways: timing counts for more, and the text of the post counts as much as the video.

How X picks posts

A new post goes to your followers first, and then into the For You timeline for people who don't follow you once it starts doing well. X looks at:

  • Replies and quote posts, the discussion a post kicks off.
  • Reposts and bookmarks. A bookmark means someone wants to come back to it.
  • Watch time on the video, and likes.
  • The topic. A post about something trending right now reaches further than the same post a day later.

Editing a video for X

  • Short and to the point. 20 to 60 seconds suits most moments. Free X accounts can post videos up to 2 minutes 20 seconds; that's a limit, not something to fill.
  • Vertical or landscape. Unlike the other feeds, landscape works well on X, and for a match, a speech or a news moment it often reads better. Pick whichever shows the moment best.
  • Lead with the moment, with the stakes on screen in a few words. Videos play muted in the timeline, so the first frame has to make sense without sound.
  • Subtitles for every spoken line.
  • End on the payoff.

Writing the post

On X, the text decides whether anyone presses play. A pattern that works:

  1. An opening line. What happens, or why it matters: "Nobody in the room saw this answer coming."
  2. A line of context. Who it is and where it's from.
  3. Whatever the brief asks for, spelled exactly as given: every mention, hashtag and tracking link. A post missing a required one can be rejected. X shortens links once they're posted; that's fine, SEMA reads the link you typed.

Keep it to one or two hashtags beyond the required ones. Write fresh text every time: captions are compared with every other post on the campaign, and near-copies are flagged as duplicates.

Timing and trends

  • Go while the topic is still rising. A good moment posted while people are still arguing about it beats a better edit posted after the topic has peaked. Check what's trending in your niche before you start cutting.
  • Bring something extra. Your context, the moment nobody else clipped, the clearest version. A plain repost of what everyone has already shared won't travel.
  • Post when your niche is online. Your X analytics show when your followers are active.
  • Join the conversation. Reply to people who reply to you, and take part in threads in your niche. That's how an X account gets noticed.

Getting your X account ready

  • Public, not protected. A protected account's posts are visible only to approved followers, so nobody can check them and they can't be paid. SEMA won't verify a protected account.
  • One niche per account, with a name, picture and bio to match. Clipping by Niche matches accounts to campaigns. A clip account for one creator should say so, and never pretend to be them.

Linking X to SEMA

  1. Connect your X account in SEMA. You'll be given a short code.
  2. Paste the code anywhere in your X bio and save.
  3. Return to SEMA and check the code. When it's found, the account is verified and you can take the code out.

Then join a campaign that takes X, post, and submit it soon after it goes live: the window starts when you post, 12 hours unless the campaign says otherwise. Given how quickly posts move on X, that window is short, so submit straight after posting.

Submit the post's full link, the one with your username in it: x.com/yourname/status/.... The post has to be yours: a link to someone else's post, or to your repost of it, is refused.

SEMA reads each post's views from X automatically, every 12 hours while it's new or still climbing.

How much to post

Our house rule is at least 10 posts a day, spaced through the day and spread over the campaigns that suit your account; nobody can predict which post will take off. How to Increase Your Views explains why. On X, put more of them where the conversation is happening.

What X views pay

On a CPM campaign you earn for every full 1,000 views at the campaign's rate, and a campaign can set its own X rate. Check Payout Rules first.

At a sample rate of Rp 5.000 per 1,000 views:

Views on one postYou earn
10.000Rp 50.000
50.000Rp 250.000
100.000Rp 500.000
500.000Rp 2.500.000

The campaign's minimum views, max payout per post and remaining budget can each change that number, and the 20% platform fee is taken when a claim reaches your wallet. How CPM Works in Clipping has the details.

Habits that cost X clippers money

  • A video with no text above it. On X, the words are half the post.
  • Posting after the moment has gone. A day late is often too late.
  • A pile of hashtags. One or two beyond what the brief asks for.
  • Submitting a shortened link, or someone else's. Submit your own post's full link.
  • A protected account. It can't be verified or paid.
  • Deleting a post. It stops earning, and holds up the withdrawal of any claims made on it.

Common questions

Is X worth clipping for? When a campaign takes it, yes, especially for news, sport, commentary and anything people argue about. It suits clippers who can move fast.

Vertical or landscape? Either. Pick whichever shows the moment best. Landscape often reads better for matches and speeches.

Do I need followers on X? They help more than on TikTok, since X shows a post to your followers first. A post that starts a discussion still reaches people who don't follow you.

Can I put my TikTok edit on X as well? If the campaign takes both, each post is a separate submission. Export a clean file without the TikTok watermark, and write the X post its own text. If the brief doesn't cover it, ask in the campaign's chat.
